Morebus reveals the new ticketer machines on all new buses featuring recycled tablets.

March 1, 2024

In the recent days, the public transit operator, Morebus, operated by Go South Coast, has embarked on a trial phase for their latest Ticketer machines. These innovative devices boast an upgraded, repurposed tablet technology tailored for ticketing services, accommodating diverse payment methods. This new iteration of ETMs (Electronic Ticket Machines) marks a significant advancement over the previous Ticketer standard, offering enhanced functionalities and user experience.

The cutting-edge Ticketer ETMs feature an Android-based tablet integrated with a built-in camera, facilitating vehicle walk-around checks and streamlined reporting processes. Noteworthy improvements include expedited transaction processing, state-of-the-art card readers, and a refined display interface, elevating the overall efficiency and effectiveness of ticketing operations.

During a recent journey aboard the 5 route to Bournemouth, we sought feedback from one of the drivers regarding these new machines. Reflecting on the environmental sustainability aspect, the driver remarked, "I appreciate the use of recycled materials, which enhances their eco-friendliness. Moreover, the heightened speed compared to the older models makes them a definite winner in my book."

Personally, I anticipate a significant positive impact on boarding times owing to the faster processing speeds and upgraded card reader technology. However, I am curious to hear your perspective on this matter. Do you believe these advancements will indeed revolutionize the boarding experience for passengers?
