On the 29th of November, Mr Halford did a pigtail bingo to raise money for the Movember Foundation. He decided to sell bingo tickets and give two winners the chance to chop off his hair! On this fateful Wednesday in the level 3 open area Matilda and Mr Butler seized their chance.
The most exciting event of November?
Without a doubt, this is a once in a lifetime opportunity, to not only play bingo in school but to cut a teacher’s hair off! An impressive 50+ students gathered round, screaming, chanting in anticipation for the bingo to begin. There was even a group dancing as they waited for the VIP, Mr Halford, to arrive (who was hiding in his room, avoiding his fate).
Quieting the crowd, Mr Halford asks for everyone to “zip their mouths” as he handed out the lucky cards. The crowd was quieter, but too excited to stop their dancing, and as the numbers were announced they grew louder and louder until jumping into the air, “BINGOOOOO!” Matilda had won and ran forwards to claim her prize: a pair of scissors.
Their hair dropped off quick and fast - as Matilda chopped at the ponytail, leaving just one more to be cut. Mr Butler took the place of the second winner and happily set about hacking off the lonely lock.
What is Movember?
Mr Halford chose to chop off his hair to raise money for The Movember Foundation. In November, men across the country will grow their moustaches to aid Movember, who are a charity that is dedicated to male health; from physical to mental. It is a shocking fact that ⅔ of worldwide suicides are by men. Movember originated in 2003, since then the brand has funded more than 1,250 male projects such as: prostate cancer charities, mental health research projects, suicide prevention and many more.
